Acupuncture for Pregnancy & Fertility

Infertility in couples is a common problem, with 12% to 15% unable to conceive after one year of trying, and 10% unable to conceive after two years of trying. Another 10-25% of pregnancies will end in miscarriage, leaving couples unclear about a path forward. We’ve helped many couples, regardless of their fertility challenges, to become pregnant and we would love to help you start your family.

Whether used independently or in conjunction with other fertility interventions, acupuncture has been proven to significantly enhance the likelihood of achieving a healthy pregnancy. Acupuncture sessions influence the body’s response to stressors, facilitating the restoration of balance in the endocrine and nervous systems. As these vital systems realign, the focus shifts towards the production of healthy eggs, fostering a supportive environment for conception and the journey to parenthood.

Whether utilized on its own or in combination with other fertility treatments, acupuncture has been shown to greatly improve the chances of achieving a healthy pregnancy. By influencing the body’s response to stressors, acupuncture helps restore balance in the endocrine and nervous systems. As these essential systems realign, the focus naturally turns towards the production of healthy eggs, creating a nurturing environment for conception and the path to parenthood.

Prenatal Acupuncture

Art of Acupuncture Venice specializes in prenatal acupuncture, and we want to help relieve stress so you can focus on having a healthy pregnancy.

Acupuncture offers effective treatment for various pregnancy-related concerns, including:
– Morning sickness: Acupuncture can alleviate nausea and vomiting experienced during morning sickness.
– Back pain: Acupuncture can ease pressure on the lower back and pelvis, promoting mobility throughout pregnancy.
– Headaches: Acupuncture can reduce the frequency and severity of pregnancy-related headaches, reducing the need for medication.
– Depression: Depression is a common issue during pregnancy. Acupuncture stimulates the production of endorphins, assisting in the management of depression symptoms.

Acupuncture offers a range of benefits during pregnancy. It enhances blood flow to the uterus and reduces overall stress levels, both crucial factors in supporting a viable and healthy pregnancy.

When incorporated alongside your prenatal care regimen, acupuncture plays a vital role in promoting the health of your pregnancy by fortifying the uterine lining, enhancing the likelihood of a successful pregnancy. Additionally, acupuncture aids in reducing stress levels, boosting circulation, and alleviating pregnancy-related discomforts. These combined benefits contribute to your overall well-being and happiness, ultimately fostering a healthy and joyful journey for both you and your baby.

I’ve been seeing Dr Heschmeyer for over ten years for various things including vertigo, hormonal fluctuations, aches and pains and most recently a very painful shoulder injury that had me scared. Her knowledge of the human body and using different techniques, not just needles, had me working again within 24 hours. You don’t have to have a specific issue to go see her, just getting back to balance in this hectic world is helpful. I highly recommend her for a better quality of life. Also, Jenny at the front desk is amazing too!

I’ve been personally seeing Dr. Heschmeyer for 3-4 months. From the moment you walk in, it’s the pleasant and friendly welcome from Jenny at the front desk. Each appointment I’ve had thus far has been amazing. Dr. H takes her time to truly listen to what my body is experiencing and struggling with. She goes above and beyond to make sure I feel confident in our treatment plan as well as helping me better understand other ways to benefit what we are striving for. She is so educated in nutrition and actually takes the time to make sure what she’s doing is going to help resolve the problem. I’ve never had a doctor actually personally care for my health as I feel she does. I can’t wait to continue my journey with Dr. Heschmeyer and her team. I highly recommend this office!

Many years ago I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. In Jan, 2020, I had gamma knife surgery for the trigeminal neuralgia and did not get much relief. In July 2022 the symptoms returned full blown, maybe worse than ever before. The neurologist told me I have SUNCT a type of headache that has "no known cause and no known cure". He offered me an anticonvulsant "that may or may not help". I have tried anticonvulsants in the past and the side effects were much worse than the benefits so I decided to do more research. There is not much information about SUNCT.I started researching all kinds of alternative therapies. Acupuncture has been known for some time to help with Trigeminal Neuralgias so I focused on offices in the Venice, Sarasota, and Port Charlotte area. I was impressed with the credentials of Dr. Mariryan Heschmeyer D.O.M., A.P. On the first phone conversation I was able to get an appointment fairly quickly. On my first visit Dr. Heschmeyer assured me she has treated SUNCT successfully and set up a plan of care. I had significant relief that day and then on the second day she gave me multiple injections in my face of the drug Sarapin. I had treatments once a week and on the fourth visit I was pain free.Sarapin is approved by the FDA. I am so thankful for Dr. Heschmeyer"s skill and knowledge of this disease SUNCT. I will continue to see her once a month as a maintenance therapy but I remain pain free. I recommend that everyone with the SUNCT diagnosis should see Dr. Heschmeyer. Don't be afraid of the Sarapin injections in your face, its like a kitten walking on your face compared to the trigeminal pain. The office staff is very helpful and very compassionate, its easy to access and the atmosphere is very comforting. The experience is stress free and the results are miraculous.
