Stress & Anxiety

Our acupuncture sessions effectively reduce stress, promote relaxation and enhance mental clarity. Most patients will experience reduced stress and anxiety after their first session, and will continue to improve while treatment continues.

Allergies and Low Energy

Acupuncture can effectively address low energy levels by stimulating the body’s natural energy flow and enhancing overall vitality. Additionally, acupuncture is known to strengthen the immune system, reducing sensitivity to allergens and mitigating allergy symptoms.

How Does Acupuncture Work?

Acupuncture entails inserting thin needles at specific points on the body to varying depths through the skin. It is rooted in the belief that an essential energy known as Qi (“chee”) flows along 14 main pathways, with blockages or weaknesses leading to illness or pain.
By stimulating acupuncture points along these meridians, balance is restored in the body, alleviating symptoms and enhancing overall well-being.

We work with adults and adolescents of all genders for a variety of conditions.

  • Adverse reactions to radiation/chemotherapy
  • Depression & Anxiety, Fertility (male & female)
  • Headaches & Migraines

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a healing technique that involves palpitation and cutaneous stimulation. In this technique, a round-edged instrument pressures the skin in strokes. The resulting appearance is small red petechiae called “sha” that will fade in 2 or 3 days. What is Qi in acupucture

What is Qi

Qi is the inherent life force that enables existence, harboring immense potential and facilitating transformations. Loosely synonymous with energy, the Chinese character for qi portrays a grain of rice evolving through the cooking process, symbolizing the transition from indigestible to life-sustaining.

Yin & Yang Explained

The principles of yin and yang guide Traditional Chinese Medicine. Yin represents the feminine energy, inherently connected to the masculine energy of yang. Substance corresponds to yin, while action aligns with yang. Every entity possesses both yin and yang attributes, which are opposites yet interdependent. The existence of one is reliant on the other. For instance, both women and men harbor yin and yang energies. Any disparity in one directly impacts the other. We recommend acupuncture and herbal remedies based on the specific imbalance to restore harmony between these energies.

Food Therapy and Nutrition

Food Therapy & Nutrition

Though therapy is a practice of healing using natural foods instead of medicines, different kinds of foods can be used as treatments for various ailments. Before suggesting a therapeutic diet, there are many factors to consider: the patient’s constitution, the nature of the patient’s illness and type of syndrome, and even the seasons and climate. The proper diet for the patient is based on all of these factors, not just on the disease alone.

I’ve been seeing Dr Heschmeyer for over ten years for various things including vertigo, hormonal fluctuations, aches and pains and most recently a very painful shoulder injury that had me scared. Her knowledge of the human body and using different techniques, not just needles, had me working again within 24 hours. You don’t have to have a specific issue to go see her, just getting back to balance in this hectic world is helpful. I highly recommend her for a better quality of life. Also, Jenny at the front desk is amazing too!

I’ve been personally seeing Dr. Heschmeyer for 3-4 months. From the moment you walk in, it’s the pleasant and friendly welcome from Jenny at the front desk. Each appointment I’ve had thus far has been amazing. Dr. H takes her time to truly listen to what my body is experiencing and struggling with. She goes above and beyond to make sure I feel confident in our treatment plan as well as helping me better understand other ways to benefit what we are striving for. She is so educated in nutrition and actually takes the time to make sure what she’s doing is going to help resolve the problem. I’ve never had a doctor actually personally care for my health as I feel she does. I can’t wait to continue my journey with Dr. Heschmeyer and her team. I highly recommend this office!

Many years ago I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. In Jan, 2020, I had gamma knife surgery for the trigeminal neuralgia and did not get much relief. In July 2022 the symptoms returned full blown, maybe worse than ever before. The neurologist told me I have SUNCT a type of headache that has "no known cause and no known cure". He offered me an anticonvulsant "that may or may not help". I have tried anticonvulsants in the past and the side effects were much worse than the benefits so I decided to do more research. There is not much information about SUNCT.I started researching all kinds of alternative therapies. Acupuncture has been known for some time to help with Trigeminal Neuralgias so I focused on offices in the Venice, Sarasota, and Port Charlotte area. I was impressed with the credentials of Dr. Mariryan Heschmeyer D.O.M., A.P. On the first phone conversation I was able to get an appointment fairly quickly. On my first visit Dr. Heschmeyer assured me she has treated SUNCT successfully and set up a plan of care. I had significant relief that day and then on the second day she gave me multiple injections in my face of the drug Sarapin. I had treatments once a week and on the fourth visit I was pain free.Sarapin is approved by the FDA. I am so thankful for Dr. Heschmeyer"s skill and knowledge of this disease SUNCT. I will continue to see her once a month as a maintenance therapy but I remain pain free. I recommend that everyone with the SUNCT diagnosis should see Dr. Heschmeyer. Don't be afraid of the Sarapin injections in your face, its like a kitten walking on your face compared to the trigeminal pain. The office staff is very helpful and very compassionate, its easy to access and the atmosphere is very comforting. The experience is stress free and the results are miraculous.
